Truck Rear End Bounce
Bouncing rear end at 70mph. The truck just bounces up and down like mad when on the freeway and i hit a bump.
The truck is still under warranty so i took it to the dealership.
Truck rear end bounce. While driving down the road, not matter what speed, it feels like my rear end is either bouncing excessively or shaking. Check rear end suspension rubbers and shockys. I still get the occasional bed bounce although not as bad.
Hey all ram heads, had a warped rotor feel when hitting brakes between 40 and 30 mph, no pulsating peddle just the rear bounce, so i did a rear brake job, slotted rotors and carbon/ceramic pads. Also check the tire air pressue, mine calls for 65 psi and it only had 40 psi in it and i still don't. The front tires were not bouncing.
The brakes were down to 1/32 from 5/32 from 2 months ago when i purchased it used (no i didn’t leave the emergency break on). We recently put six new tires on the rear. I need some opinions/help on what in my rear axle could cause it to make my wheels bounce, the wheels move up and down, not wobble side to side.
It's fine at 67 but not above 70. 2002 ram 2500 4x4 quad cab. If the whole truck bounces, then shocks or too overloaded.
Still f***ing does it at the exact same speed, wtf! Feels like rear end in bouncing or shutter when braking only thru 25 to 20 mph do not feel anything in the brake pedal. We pulled over and raised and lowered the tag without effect.
I have had a bad bounce in the rear of my truck for a long time, so bad im embarrassed to give anyone a ride. I suspect that there is a 'problem' somewhere in the rear suspension/tires. Just to make sure !
I have an or, i don't have a bounce. Of the three, the '01 has the best rear end followed by the '15, then the '08. I get like a rear end bounce that goes away after 50mph.
Its like i have eggs for tires. I bought the truck in need of. I hit a bump and it compensates.
I did the rebuild of the fox shocks a week ago and i still have a slight bounce (it's 80% better) in the rear of the truck is it normal or should i check it again. Rear end jumping sideways over bumps. To reiterate my position, my truck rode bad, bounced on every bump, bounced bad, almost to the point of loss of control on the repeated bumps.
My 04 with the 17's was a pain on bumpy roads but the 08 with the 20's is a nightmare. In 20 seconds you can become part of the worlds largest and oldest community discussing general motors, chevrolet and gmc branded pickups, crossovers, and suvs. My son drove the mh and i followed in car.
I dont think shocks as the bounce test seems like they are ok. At 55 mph it flat out sucks. App 15 mph the rear end will start to shutter and bounce till maybe 3 mph.
Check brake pads /shoes for lining thickness if drums check for ovality in the drums surface or disc condition. So i decided to push down on the rear bumper of the '15 and the truck bounced three times. I was following the wife while she was driving the '15 and noticed there was too much bounce in the rear when traveling over small bumps in the road.
I'm not sure if it's suspension related, or transmission, or even my differential! The truck is an 85 4 runner with (i believe) 4 trailmaster front springs, rear chevy 63 leafs, confer lift shackles, and 4 pro comp es 3000 shocks. When i get up to 70mph, the rear axles start to bounce.
I was going through steer tires left. At 55 bobtail it's pretty bad. It still has the original shocks, but when i press down on the tail gate, they seem to act just like.
2004 dodge ram 4x4 short wheel base. If i get up to speed on the highway, about 70 mph, and let off to coast, as,my truck do shifts, the rear end bounces. Now way to really eliminate it completely.
Also, if you have the 20 tire option that makes it even worse than the trucks with 17's. Another thing that will help a lot, and also help with leaning and the feeling the rear end is sliding on corners, is a rear sway bar. Since the vibration seems to be coming through the seat, and is the worst at 49mph by my gps.
It didn't start until after i changed both rear ends on the truck.(just changed ratios, no prob with old pumpkins). Things i have done/replaced in order. I feel the bump and then some more bounce as i move forward.
This caused the tail end of my truck to bounce. When you put on brakes the weight shifts forward and the tail end of your truck gets lighter. I've had my mechanic ride alongside me down the road and he could see it.
My 99' sc was doing the same thing and i thought that it was the rear drums but it turned out to be a front rotor that was warped. So for example after you hit a pothole the back end bounces 3 or 4 times until it levels out. I've had a bounce in my rear end (no jokes you perverts) since i bought my truck in 2006.
Heck today around town today i got the rear end off the ground it was so bad. You can see it obviously in the rear view as the bed goes up and down. Also, once the new shocks are in place, recheck the distance for the drop of the rear end.
When my truck was new the back end sat lower than the front untill i hauled some heavy loads, now the back end sits higher and the bounce has gone away, it rides smoother now than when new, i kinda think your rear leaf springs need broken in. I am experiencing what i would call more bounce from the rear of the truck when i go over small to moderate bumps while driving. I have a quick question about the rear bouncing suspension.
If just the rear end is bouncing, then not enough wd tension. Everything under the sun replaced but no good. So to catch y'all up to date, my 99 pete 379 developed a bad bounce when empty and loaded.
The bounce comes and goes often and when it happens it's like a bounce bounce bounce then stops. I rotated tires and persists so not tires? In the end, it is a truck.
The truck has always had a minor 'bounce' or vibration but with new tires, seems even worse. But the weight is up front, no need for that much psi in the rear unless loaded/towing justus, nov 5, 2015 #13. It mostly happens on highways that are concrete instead of blacktop and it bounces enough that my kidneys hurt, my lunch is remixed internally to the point that it may no longer stay internal, and no one can even talk right.
Simply changing out rear leaf oem bushings can help. As though the rear were too stiff.
